House & Family History: In 1559 the crown confiscated the Englefield Estate from Sir Francis Englefield because of his support of the Catholic Mary, Queen of Scots. Queen Elizabeth I visited Englefield on two occasions. On May 20, 2017, Pippa Middleton, sister of the Duchess of Cambridge (today Princess of Wales), married James Matthews at St. Mark's Church on the Englefield Estate, after which a reception was held at Englefield House.
Garden & Outbuildings: The Englefield Estate today covers approximately 14,000 acres in Berkshire and North Hampshire. The estate consists of farmland, forestry, residential, and commercial property; the house is set in a deer park.
