House & Family History: Vaughan Smith, who is seated at Ellingham Hall, is a former British Army officer, journalist, and one of the founders of the Frontline Club. Based in London, the club is a charity whose purpose to promote and preserve independent journalism. Between December 2010 and December 2011 Ellingham Hall was the temporary home of Julian Assange. Vaughan Smith offered the house as a refuge for the WikiLeaks founder while he was out on bail.
