Eglingham Hall

  • Earlier Houses: There was a pele tower on, or near, the site of the current house.

House & Family History: During the Civil War the Ogles were Parliamentarians. It's believed that Oliver Cromwell was a guest at Eglingham in 1650. The design for the current 18th century house was possibly influenced by Vanbrugh's great Northumbrian house, Seaton Delaval Hall.
