Eastwell Park (Eastwell Manor) (Eastwell Towers)

  • Earlier Houses: According to Howard Colvin, there appears to have been an earlier, probably 17th century, house (the first house) on, or near, the site of the current (third) house.

Built / Designed For: 9th Earl of Winchilsea

House Replaced By: In 1926 the house (the second house) that is the primary focus of this record was demolished and replaced by the current early 20th century Grade II-listed house (the third house), today a hotel. It's likely that material from the earlier house was incorporated into the current house.

  • Garden & Outbuildings: The 1848 gatehouse, today called Eastwell Towers, is all that survives from the earlier houses.

  • Architect: William Winde (Wynne)

    Date: Circa 1685
Designed: Alterations to first house (demolished), probably for 3rd Earl of Winchilsea.
