Dunglass House (Dunglass Castle)

  • Earlier Houses: A medieval castle (the first house) of the earls of Hume was destroyed in 1548, rebuilt (the second house), and then destroyed again. The early 19th century house (the third house) that is the focus of this record was built on the site of the earlier castles.

    House & Family History: The early 19th century Dunglass House was noted for its lavishly decorated Romantic style interiors.

    House Replaced By: The early 19th century house (the third house) was demolished in the 1940s and replaced by the current (fourth) house in the 1950s.
