Denbies (Denbies House)

  • Earlier Houses: An earlier two-story house of the 1750s was demolished circa 1854 to make way for the Cubitt house, which was itself demolished between 1953 and 1954.

    House Replaced By: The current Denbies House, which replaced the Cubitt house, was built in the mid-19th century and originally served as the laundry, staff quarters, and coach house to Thomas Cubitt's house.

  • Garden & Outbuildings: The estate comprises 627 acres, 200 of which are woodland, and includes 10 estate houses. Denbies is today England's largest vineyard, producing 400,000 bottles a year, which represents over 10% of the plantings in the whole of the UK.
