Debenham House (Peacock House) (8 Addison Road)

    House & Family History: Debenham is an early 20th century house of three stories by five bays in the Holland Park section of Kensington & Chelsea. Famous for its green glazed pantile roof and its turquoise, green, and white faience glazed brick exterior walls, the Arts & Crafts style house was built for department store owner Ernest Ridley Debenham. The sumptuous Arab style hall contains a mosaic dome painted by Gaetano Meo, William de Morgan tiles, and painted ceilings by Ernest Gimson. The house's most famous resident was Elton John, who made Debenham his London home in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
