Danny House (Danny Park) (Danny Mansion)

  • House & Family History: During the last six months of World War I, the prime minister, David Lloyd-George, occupied Danny; the house's kitchen table was used by the Imperial War Cabinet as they finalized the terms of the armistice treaty in October of 1918. Later in the 20th century the house was let to the Mutual Households Associations. Danny was later purchased by the Country Houses Association, who ran it as a retirement home until their financial collapse in 2002. Danny was purchased from the Country Houses Association by Richard and Rachael Burrows in April of 2004 for £3 million, with the aim of maintaining it as serviced apartments for 20 retired people, and as a family home and business. The Burrows family repurchased Campion family portraits that had hung in Danny for generations and reinstalled them in the house. (Part of this history of Danny kindly provided by Andrew Triggs.)
