Earlier Houses: There was a circa 1784 house of the Money family near the site of the current house.
Built / Designed For: Sir Robert Harvey
House & Family History: Sir Robert Harvey overreached himself financially in the building of his new house at Crown Point; he committed suicide in 1870, after his bankruptcy. J.J. Colman, the mustard entrepreneur, purchased the Estate in 1872. The House was enlarged between 1902 and 1904 for his son, R.J. Colman, who was the lord lieutenant of Norfolk between 1929 and 1946. The House was sold away from the Estate in 1955, when it became Whitlingham Hospital, a purpose it served until 1999. The House is today divided into flats. The Billiard Room has 16th century terracotta plaques from Arminghall Hall.
