Cranham Hall

  • Earlier Houses: There were probably a number of earlier buildings on, or near, the site of the current house, including a Medieval timber house and an Elizabethan hall, the latter of which was demolished around 1789, a few years after the death of James Oglethorpe.

    House & Family History: In 2023 the house, together with eight acres, was listed for sale for £4.5 million.

  • Chapel & Church: Oglethorpe, the founder of Georgia (the thirteenth and last British colony in America), is buried in the Grade II-listed All Saints Church, which is next to the house.
