The House from a circa 1922 postcard
House & Family History: Coupland is actually not a castle, but rather a late 16th century tower house. The three-story tower has an attic and a small projecting tower that is carried up the south wall. The House is one of the few major buildings in Northumberland to be built of volcanic rock.
