Cothelstone House (Cothelstone Park)

  • Built / Designed For: Edward Jeffries Esdaile

    House & Family History: Cothelstone House was in the neo-Greek style with a three-bay front, with the center bay of giant Ionic columns in antis. It was built for Edward Jeffries Esdaile, who married the daughter of the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. Esdaile was also seated at nearby Cothelstone Manor, a house purchased in the late 18th century by his grandfather, Edward Jeffries.
