Compton Beauchamp House (Compton House)

  • House & Family History: In the early 20th century, Compton Beauchamp House was the home of Jean Amédée Marie Anatole de Broglie, Prince de Broglie, and his wife, the prominent socialite Daisy (née Marguerite Séverine Philippine Decazes de Glücksberg, 1890-1962). Born in Paris, Daisy was the only daughter of Isabelle-Blanche Singer and Jean Élie Octave Louis Sévère Amanieu Decazes, 3rd Duke Decazes and Glücksberg. Her maternal grandfather was Isaac Merritt Singer, who made an enormous fortune from the sewing machine. Daisy was very influential in the fashion world and was famous for her collection of spectacular jewels (she was one of Cartier's most important clients). De Broglie was her first husband, by whom she had three daughters (he died in 1918 during World War I). Daisy's second husband, who she married in 1919 in London, was The Hon. Reginald Ailwyn Fellowes; her second marriage gave her the name by which she remains known today: Daisy Fellowes.
