House & Family History: Old Coberley Hall had many royal visitors. King Edward I was here in 1278; Queen Elizabeth, wife of Henry VII, was entertained at Coberley in 1502; King Charles I twice sheltered here during the Civil War; and, in 1651, his son, Charles II, was hidden at Coberley after his defeat at the Battle of Worcester.
