  • Earlier Houses: There were two earlier houses on the site of the current house, the most notable of which was a Medieval monastic house.

    House & Family History: In 1960 the Close House Estate was acquired by Kings College, Newcastle, who refurbished the house. Close House has been a luxury hotel and golf course since 2005.

  • Garden & Outbuildings: In 1994 Kings College, Newcastle, built a golf course in the park.
