Caddington Hall

  • House & Family History: The Caddington Estate was acquired by the Pedley family from the Dean and Chapter of St. Paul's by a special Act of Parliament in 1804 in exchange for their nearby Zouches Farm. An existing small house on the Estate was pulled down by the Pedleys and a new house of light and dark chequer brickwork with seven bays was completed circa 1830. The House passed from John Pedley to Anne, wife of Arthur Macnamara, and hence to her son, Arthur Macnamara, in 1876. Macnamara sold Caddington circa 1902 to Arthur Collings Wells (who had rented it for the previous five years). The House was demolished in 1975 and replaced with a modern BUPA Care Home, opened in 1981, on 12 acres of grounds.
