Bush Hill Park House

  • Earlier Houses: There was probably an earlier house on the site of the 18th century house.

House & Family History: Bush Hill Park House was an early 18th century brick mansion surrounded by lush gardens. The Bush Hill Park Estate was broken up and sold in 1875, when the North London Estates Company purchased 373 acres for housing development. The House itself was not part of the 1875 sale and came into separate ownership; it was demolished in 1929.

Collections: Bush Hill Park House contained a wooden panel by Grinling Gibbons representing the stoning of St. Stephen; this important piece of art came to Bush Hill from the collection at Canons.

  • Garden & Outbuildings: The House was set in grounds laid out by Le Nôtre. In the early 19th century the Bush Hill Park Estate stood at 438 acres.
