Burton Park

  • Earlier Houses: An 1826 fire destroyed an earlier 18th century house designed by Giacomo Leoni.

Built / Designed For: John Biddulph

House & Family History: Burton Park is noted for its Greek-style hall, very likely a remodeling of the hall of Leoni's earlier house. Most particularly, the hall contains an extraordinary cast and wrought bronze staircase with figures of greyhounds on alternate steps. The staircase was moved to Burton from Michelgrove after the latter house was demolished. Historic England listed Burton Park as a Grade I house because of the staircase.
