Bowen's Court (Faraghy)

  • Built / Designed For: Henry Cole Bowen

    House & Family History: The novelist Elizabeth Bowen was the last owner of Bowen's Court. She wrote a 1942 history of the House ("Bowen's Court") and it featured in her 1929 novel "The Last September." Bowen sold the House in 1959; it was demolished in 1961. In 2019 a Mitchelstown limestone chimneypiece from Bowen's Court was installed in the Irish Georgian Society's headquarters in the City Assembly House in Dublin.
