House & Family History: Bovey is a house of many periods, dating at least to the 16th century. In the 18th century the House was neglected and left in poor repair and later reduced in size; it was restored in 1868. The original red sandstone hall range of 1592 (the date is found on a very fine rainwater head) sports an interior of high quality late 17th century paneling, with a ceiling decorated with grapevines and oak leaves. The three-storied, rubble-faced South Wing was added in the 17th century. There is also the King Charles II Room, with a post-Restoration ceiling that commemorates Charles's flight after the Battle of Worcester. Bovey is today a luxury hotel.
Garden & Outbuildings: There is a fine Summer House that contains two 14th century style medieval statues: a bishop and a king.
