Bourn Hall (Bourn Castle)

  • Earlier Houses: The current house is built within the moated site of the 11th century wooden Bourn Castle, which was burned down during the Peasants' Revolt in 1381, though elements of it may have been incorporated into the present house.

    House & Family History: Repton installed woodwork, chimneypieces, and a mid-17th century staircase from the demolished Haslington Hall at Bourn. In the 19th century Bourn was visited by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert while they were staying at nearby Wimpole Hall.
