The house from a 1911 postcard
House & Family History: In 1859 Edward FitzGerald translated from Persian to English "The Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám" (a title he gave to the selection of quatrains he translated). The original work is attributed to Omar Khayyam (1048–1131), the polymath called "the Astronomer-Poet of Persia" for his contributions to astronomy, poetry, mathematics, and philosophy.
