Bolton Castle

  • Built / Designed For: Sir John Scrope, Chancellor of England.

    House & Family History: Mary, Queen of Scots, was confined here for six months (1568-69) on her way to the Tower of London. The Castle was defeated in a siege during the Civil War. Major conservation work was completed in 1995.
