Built / Designed For: Sir John Dunbar
House & Family History: Boath is a house of pink ashlar built in a neo-Greek style for Sir John Dunbar of Boath. The Entrance Facade is five bays by two stories and sports a pedimented portico with giant Ionic columns. The Entrance Hall has an Ionic columned screen at the north end and is noted for its large size and coffered ceiling. In the mid-1990s Boath House was in poor condition and on Historic Scotland's Endangered List; it was at this time that Don and Wendy Matheson purchased and restored the House and opened it in 1997 as a country house hotel and spa.
Comments: Boath has been described as the most beautiful Regency house in Scotland.
Garden & Outbuildings: Boath House is set in 20 acres that includes the Walled Garden, woodland walks, and streams.
