Boarstall House (Boarstall Tower)

  • House & Family History: The Grade I-listed Gatehouse is all that remains of Boarstall House (demolished in 1778 by Sir John Aubrey), built by John de Haudlo in 1312 as defense for his house. Although updated in 1615 for use as a banqueting pavilion or hunting lodge, it retained its medieval belfry, crossloops, and crenellations. The exterior and many rooms in the Gatehouse remain virtually unchanged from that time.
