Bisham Abbey

  • House & Family History: Originally a preceptory of the Knights Templar, Bisham Abbey became an Augustinian priory in 1337 and a Benedictine abbey in 1537. The abbey was dissolved in 1540, as part of the Dissolution of the Monasteries, and given to Sir Philip Hoby, who converted the abbey buildings into a private house.
