Birkhill House

  • House & Family History: The earls of Dundee are hereditary royal banner bearers for Scotland, a title awarded to the family by the Scottish King Alexander II in the 13th century. A member of the family carried the Scottish banner for William Wallace at Stirling Bridge and Robert the Bruce at Bannockburn. The Bruce appointed the banner bearer and his successors as custodians of the City of Dundee.
