Ashley Manor

  • Earlier Houses: There has been a house on, or near, the current house since at least the 12th century, when the manor became the summer home of the abbots of the Abbey of St. Augustine.

    House & Family History: Ashley Manor is probably most famous today as the home of Adam and the Ants musician Chris Merrick Hughes, who purchased the house in the 1980s. In November 2016 Ashley was listed for sale for £1.95 million; in May of 2020 it was listed for sale again, together with 10.2 acres, this time for £1.5 million.

  • Garden & Outbuildings: Chris Merrick Hughes installed a recording studio in the Coach House in the 1980s. Ashley Manor today sits in grounds of 10 acres.
