Alscot Park

  • Earlier Houses: There was at least one earlier house on, or near, the site of the current house.

    Collections: James West was a great bibliophile; after his death in 1772 a large majority of his collection was purchased by the 1st Marquess of Lansdowne (it is today part of the collection of the British Library). John Michael Rysbrack's 1760 bust of William Shakespeare was sold at Christie's on July 15, 1986, for £291,600, where it was purchased by the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.
