Alfoxton Park (Alfoxton House) (Alfoxden Park)

  • Earlier Houses: There was an earlier house that burned and was replaced by the current house.

    House & Family History: William and Dorothy Wordsworth lived at Alfoxton between July 1797 and June 1798. Dorothy began her journal here in January 1798, but stopped it two months later (she started the journal again when they moved to the Lake District). For many years the house was the Alfoxton Park Hotel. In 2020 it was purchased for £2 million by the Triratna Buddhist Community.
