House & Family History: Tennyson died at Aldworth on October 6, 1892 with a book of Shakespeare in his hand. During World War II the house was requisitioned by the British Admiralty and used as a convalescent home. In September of 2008 Aldworth, together with 12 acres, was listed for sale for £10 million .
