The House from a 1906 postcard
Built / Designed For: George Fort
House & Family History: The architect of Alderbury House has been the subject of much speculation over the years; though it's been attributed to James Wyatt and Benjamin Latrobe, Howard Colvin, whose dictionary we use as the gold standard, said that Lady Wrenbury had documentation in her possession that proved the design was by S.P. Cockerell. In November of 2020 Alderbury House, together with 33 acres, sold for £5.3 million.
