Woodsford Castle

  • House & Family History: Of the 14th century quadrangular castle (licensed in 1335 and completed circa 1370) built for Sir Guy de Bryan (a servant and friend of King Edward III), all that remains today is one façade. In the 18th century a new wing was built to the northwest. In 1850 a restoration of the Castle was carried out by the father of Thomas Hardy. The great author himself came here often.
