The House from an 1881 issue of "The Graphic"
Earlier Houses: There was probably at least one earlier house on, or near, the site of the current house.
House & Family History: In May of 1902, the prince and princess of Wales, later King George V and Queen Mary, stayed at Vaynol Hall as guests of the Assheton-Smiths. Vaynol House was sold in 1984, together with 1,063 acres.
Collections: Furniture from Vaynol Hall was sold at Sotheby's on March 8, 1985.
Garden & Outbuildings: In the early 20th century the Vaynol Estte stood at 36,000 acres. Today the former Estate has been divided up and sold into separate ownership; the National Trust today owns much of the former Estate. The Park has been the setting for Bryn Terfel's Faenol Festival since 2000.
