Notes: Carline II was a mason and architect of Shrewsbury. He was the son of John Carline I (1730-93), who was a native of Lincoln. Carline I moved to Shrewsbury, where he became foreman of the masons who built the English Bridge to the designs of John Gwynn between 1759 and 1774. Carline II had a flourishing business as an architect, builder, and statuary mason and was the father of John Carline III.
