Sudbrook Park (Sudbrooke Lodge)

  • House & Family History: Sudbrook is a nine-bay, two-story brick house with stone dressings and a parapet. The House is noteworthy for its giant central Corinthian-columned porticos (on both the garden and entrance facades) and its long and slender segmental-headed windows with aprons. Inside, the most notable interior is the elaborate Cube Room, which features a coved ceiling and giant coupled pilasters.

Comments: Pevsner, writing in "The Buildings of England: Surrey," calls the design of Sudbrook "Gibbs at his most Baroque."
