Earlier Houses: There were two earlier houses near the site of the current 19th century house: a medieval castle (demolished) and the Grade II*-listed 16th century Old Studley Castle, today divided into flats.

House & Family History: The Gothic Revival style Studley is noted for its interiors of polished oak and its enormous octagonal central tower dotted with stained glass windows. From 1903 until the 1960s the house was occupied by the Lady Warwick Agricultural College for Women (later Studley College). After the college vacated the great house became offices for British Leyland and Rover Cars, then was converted into a hotel and conference center. The hotel and conference center closed in March 2016, after Studley was purchased by Warner Leisure Hotels, who spent £30 million to upgrade and reopen the house as a luxury hotel in 2018.
