Stowe Hill House (Stowe House)

    House & Family History: Samuel Johnson, who was born in Lichfield, was a regular visitor to Stowe Hill in the 1770s. During the first part of World War II the British Army occupied Stowe; later in the war Belmont School in Sussex was evacuated here. In 1951 the house was converted into a nurses' home for Victoria and St. Michael’s hospitals. In the 1970s Stowe Hill was reconverted back into a single family residence. In 2022 the house, together with 2.5 acres, was listed for sale for £1.95 million.
