House & Family History: In 1899 Henry Haversham Godwin-Austen sold Shalford House to a boys' school, a purpose it served until 1908, when the house was converted into a hotel. In 1939 the house, together with 117 acres, was purchased by Guildford city government, who converted the grounds into a public park and let the house as offices.
Collections: The Guildford Museum has in its collection a number of objects from Shalford House, including chimneypieces. Papplewick Hall in Nottinghamshire has an 18th century Neoclassical chimneypiece that was removed from Shalford House.
