Serlby Hall

  • Built / Designed For: 2nd and 3rd Viscounts Galway

    House & Family History: The 1st Viscount Galway purchased Serlby Hall in 1727 and laid the foundations for a new house. Over the next 30 years his son and grandson (the 2nd and 3rd Viscounts Galway) built the current House. During the Great War Serlby was an auxiliary military hospital; it served as a prisoner of war camp during World War II.

    Collections: The contents of Serlby Hall were sold at auction in 1978. Part of the Serlby collection is today at Melbury House, Dorset.
