House & Family History: Rous Lench was originally built around two courtyards and is now an L-shaped building. The House as seen today is primarily of the 19th century, though the West Range is circa 16th century and the South Range is from the early 17th century. The South Range contains a northerly projection that is early Victorian and contains a stone chimneypiece from Shaw in the North Riding of Yorkshire; the chimneypiece was intended for San Simeon, William Randolph Heart's California palace, but made its way to Rous Lench instead.

Garden & Outbuildings: The gardens of Rous Lench are famous for their yews; avenues, terraces, arbors, and tunnels -- all of yew.
