Collections: A portrait of Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, The Duchess of Argyll, painted in 1915 by Philip de Laszlo (almost certainly once in the collection at Roseneath) was sold for £46,850, against a high estimate of £15,000, by Christie's London on November 30, 2009, as part of the sale of the collections of HRH Prince George, Duke of Kent, and HRH Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent.

Notes: Rome was the architect's birthplace; he came to England in 1767 and worked for brothers Robert and John Adam. Bonomi was elected an associate of the Royal Academy in 1789 with the support of Sir Joshua Reynolds. Bonomi was recognized in 1804 as the honorary architect for St. Peter's in Rome. Jane Austen names him in "Sense and Sensibility" as a popular architect. Bonomi's designs resemble the Adam brothers' style in certain ways; however, Colvin describes his interiors as "more robust."
