Notes: Ross was a Scottish architect who practiced primarily in the 19th century. He was educated at Inverness Royal Academy and Bell's Institution and articled to James Ross of Inverness, whose practice he took over in 1853, when he began an independent practice. Ross was in partnership with Robert John Macbeth and John Alister Ross.

Notes: Flockhart was a London architect who was articled to Adamson & McLeod between 1870 and 1875 and was an assistant in the office of Douglas & Sellars, 1876-77. Flockhart passed his qualifying exam in 1879 and practiced in partnership with William Wallace between 1879 and 1881; he commenced solo practice in 1881.
