Rolleston Hall

  • Earlier Houses: There was an earlier medieval house (probably 13th century) on the site of the 17th century house.

House & Family History: Rolleston was the childhood home of the infamous Oswald Mosley, leader of the British Fascist Party in the 1930s. Mosley sprang from a very wealthy county family and grew up in the large Rolleston Estate surrounded by privilege (before World War I there were 30 gardeners employed at Rolleston). The Great Western Railway Hall Class locomotive 5973 "Rolleston Hall" was named after the house.
