House & Family History: John Bacon Forster began the New Hall; his son, William Bacon Forster, continued it. William Forster was said to have "led a profligate life, squandering his property in extravagance and gaming" (Whellan). Soon after remarrying, William committed suicide in the unfinished Hall.
