House & Family History: Happisburgh is considered one of the seminal Arts & Crafts houses of England. It's built of local materials, including brick, flint, pebble, thin tiles, and thatch. The House is in danger of falling into the sea, as the Norfolk coast upon which it is built is relentlessly being consumed by the encroaching ocean. Happisburgh is the first example of Blow's use of the butterfly plan. In 2015 the House was listed for sale for £790,000.
Comments: Pevsner considered Happisburgh Manor Blow's first important work, and possibly his best.
