Hanham Court (Hanham Hall)

  • Garden & Outbuildings: Julian and Isabel Bannerman, award-winning garden designers to the Prince of Wales, purchased Hanham in the early 1990s and created a series of wonderful gardens here. Noted for their strong scents, they include the Formal Garden, with borders of old roses; the Park, with an orchard and a wildflower meadow that overlooks the River Avon; and the Woodland Garden, which features tree ferns. In addition there are lilies, tree peonies, fountains (including the famous Dancing Crown Fountain), temples, a stream, and the Loggia. The garden opened to the public for the first time in 2009; in 2010 it was named the "No. 1 Dreamy Garden in England" by the BBC's "Gardening Illustrated" magazine.

Chapel & Church: The 13th century church and tithe barn are extant.
