House & Family History: Little remains of Archer's house of 1715; Holland incorporated fragments of it into his thorough remodeling of the 1770s.

He was one of a very rare breed: an English Baroque architect; possibly only Vanbrugh and Hawksmoor could be also be considered members of this exclusive club. Heythrop is considered Archer's most important country house.

He transformed Brighton House (later the Royal Pavilion) in 1787 for the Prince Regent (most of Holland's work was swept away later by Nash).
