House & Family History: Gawsworth New Hall was begun in 1707 by Charles Mohun, 4th Baron Mohun, but abandoned in 1712 after Mohun's famous sword duel with the 4th Duke of Hamilton in Hyde Park, in which both men were killed (in a dispute over their inheritance of the Macclesfield estate).
