Eydon Hall

  • Built / Designed For: The Rev. Francis Annesley

    House & Family History: Eydon was the home of Lord Robert Brand ("the Wisest Man in the Empire") and his wife Phyllis Langhorne (sister of Nancy Astor). Lady Ford sold the House in 1983, together with 600 acres. Eydon was listed for sale in July 2004 for £11 million.

    Collections: Sir Peter Lely's "Lord and Lady Dacre," sold at Christie's for £54,000 on November 19, 1982 to a private buyer.

    Comments: Pevsner described Eydon as "a 1790 house of moderate size and great if reticent elegance." Eydon is considered Lewis's best-preserved work.
